Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,
Have you heard about the Spring Fair? So exciting! Have a look at our school blog: http://arahoespringfair.blogspot.co.nz/
Room 20 is going to be making play- dough to sell and we will be in charge of Sausage Sizzles. We need some awesome parents to help us out before hand and on the day! We want this to be the best ever Spring Fair! If you are interested in helping please register with our teachers.
Welcome to all of our new friends that have started in Room 20. We will be having an Ara Teina assembly this Friday at 9am and Room 20 are performing their action waiata 'Korero Parirau'. So exciting! We even had a practice in the hall today.
Well done to all the children who remembered to bring back their library books. If we forget we can bring them back tomorrow and get a book out at lunch time or after school until 3.30.
We are having a Road Works Disco on Friday 5 September. Dancing shoes on! There is food and drinks available. If you did not find a notice in our notebooks, please let our teachers know.
By the way- did you know we won best class at the whole school assembly last week?
Have a look at our cool photos:
Drawing the Casey the Caterpillar Story
Drawing the Casey the Caterpillar shape- short stick. Short stick is in letters a, i, n, m, and r.
In Maths we are learning how to use 10s frames. 10s frames help us with recognising number patterns, the value of numbers and addition and subtraction.
We roll the dice and draw the correct number of dots in the 10s frames.
Some of us are learning to do Casey Shape patterns. Can you see what letters we can make out of open mouth short stick?
Wow! Open mouth short stick pattern makes letter a! Look how we are writing them in the right place, the right shape and the right size!
Our buddy class came and visited us on Thursday afternoon. We had a special performance by one of our dancers. What a wonderful performance in front of so many people.
Our buddy class shared their writing and illustrations with us. It was amazing hearing the great stories they wrote and seeing what we can do as we keep learning more about Reading and Writing!
The whole school assembly was so interesting. Kapa haka performed 2 awesome songs. We can join Kapa Haka if we want. It is on at the hall on Mondays and Thursdays with Miss Walker.
Congratulations to Mia for winning the School Assembly Certificate for displaying the value of Excellence. Mia always tries her best in all her learning. We are very proud of you!
When we read our poem through the week, we go on a letter hunt! We use the magnifying glass to help us!
When we do Shared Writing we are in two groups. Some of us are learning to think of ideas to write about, and how to put the idea into a simple sentence. Some of us are learning to listen for sounds we can hear in words so we can start writing our own stories in our books.
Here are some of us looking for Casey Shapes in the Casey the Caterpillar story book.
We are learning to self assess by giving ourselves 3 smiley faces. If we do all 3 jobs we get 3 smiley faces!
Thanks so much for visiting our blog! Ka kite ano!
