Kiaora Everyone!
On Monday Hazel pulled a mystery object out of the Treasure Bag so we could talk about it and write a sentence for our story in Shared Writing. Well, Hazel pulled out a fish made out of flax! How is that even possible? We decided to go on an adventure to find some flax. On the way Mr Limbrick saw us and told us of a spot down the back of the school field where we can find lots of flax. We found some flax bushes by Pimento Place and some logs to sit on and talked about the flax.
When we got back to class we wrote a sentence about our walk to Pimento Place. At the end we counted all the letters, words and sentences. We also sound out words to listen for the sounds in words we want to use. At the end we self assess with 1, 2 or 3 smiley faces!
Today Ryan pulled a frog out of the Treasure Bag. Wow! We had a lot to say about the frog! We used all sorts of words to describe it. Then we thought about a sentence we could write about the frog. (This is the 'Think About It' stage of the Writing Process).
Some of us are helping Miss Ellis write the story by using Casey Shapes to form our letters correctly.
Today we got 3 smiley faces! We started our sentence with a capital letter and we used a full stop at the end. Can you see the hearts? The hearts are words that we knew or were able to sound out by ourselves. While Miss Ellis was doing some shared writing with one half of the class, Miss Wackrow di letter sounds with the other half of the class. Tomorrow we will swap over. Ka pai Room 20!
So much work! Time for a brain beak! Let's have a quick dance party!
Here are our new friends learning the Casey the Caterpillar story!
They are using our beautiful Casey the Caterpillar wall and looking for the shapes on the wall, that are also in our story book!
Miss Wackrow is so good at drawing pictures for our letter sound charts. Fancy doing /m/ and /n/ at the same time. They both have short sticks and tunnels in them, but /m/ has 2 tunnels and /n/ has 1.
Wow wee- great short sticks guys! Short sticks are in soooo many letters!
Wow- short sticks and tunnels! Nice work.
Great handwriting where we join the Casey Shapes to form letters! Nice work team.
In Maths we are learning about teen numbers, how to recognise patterns to 10, and about our 'ty' numbers, like 20, 30 and 40.
Thanks for visiting our blog everyone!
Ka kite ano, Room 20.
