SUPER LEARNERS

Kia ora everybody!

What a great few days we have been having!

Our class grew a tiny bit bigger with Anthony and Grace joining us.  It is so good to have new friends in Room 20.

Our poem last week was called Safety First.  We look for letters and words in our poem.  We publish our poems on Fridays and take them home with us for the weekend.  The poems can be a bit tricky for us to read so you can help us!

Well done to our Star of the Week who received a certificate at Ara Teina assembly for always being ready for learning and for doing her better than best!
Here we are on Friday afternoon with our pre-entry visitors.
We put on a puppet show of 'Going on a Bear Hunt' for our visitors.

We are being tight rope walkers at the circus walking on the tight rope and getting better at balancing and being in control of our bodies.
We have been learning the value of numbers, as well as learning to instantly recognise number patterns to 5. That means we will know how many there are without having to count one at a time.

We painted pictures about how we come to school and how we can come to school safely.  There were some amazing stories and paintings.  We are learning to paint a picture and tell our teacher our story.
We self assess by giving ourselves smiley faces when we do shared writing.  In shared writing we are also learning to draw a picture and think of a sentence that goes with our story.  When we do our shared writing we think about where we write the letters and what letters to use.  We listen for the sounds in words and tell our teacher which letter can make that sound.  We also finish every sentence with a full stop.  We count letters, words and sentences.
We have a fun warm up before Handwriting by looking for Casey Shapes on the Casey Shape wall. This week we have drawn short stick tall stick patterns so we looked for letters with those shapes.

Amazing Handwriting on the chalkboards drawing short stick and tall stick patterns!

Great work Room 20!  Well done me, well done you, I am awesome, so are you!

Don't forget our Pyjama Day is on Friday and library books need to be back in the library box by the library tomorrow morning!

Ka kite ano!
