Kia ora everybody!
What a cool Spring Fair we had in the weekend! Thank you to everybody who helped us make our playdough and helped us on the day.
Here are some photos of what we have been doing at school.
We have been learning about puppets. Last week we made puppets from the story 'The Little Red Hen.'
We are learning different ways of showing a number. You can use a word, a numeral, finger patterns, tally charts, tens frames and an abacus. Check out our big posters in class!
Brain break time!
During Handwriting we find the Casey shapes on the wall and write them on our chalkboards. Do you know that every letter is made up of a Casey Shape?
We are finding letters that have short sticks in them- a, i, m, n, r and u have short sticks in them.
Wow! Look how good our shapes are! Right size, right place and right shape! Great job Room 20.
When we set up our chalkboards ready to write shapes and letters, we are sneakily practicing writing from the top of the board (or page) and from the left to the right. We also learn to go down to the next branch (line).
Today we learnt new games for our Maths Stations. Here we are throwing the dice and reading the number pattern. If we throw a 5 then we make 5 little worms out of playdough for our apples!
When we use the Rods we are learning about size and length. We have to find the right size rod to make the picture. This will help us build houses and bridges when we are big!
In the game Who's Hairy, we pick up a card and read the number. Then we have to count out the matching number of ice block sticks to put hair on the bald man's head!
When we use the Geo- Boards we are learning about patterns and symmetry. Another great skill to have so we can do amazing things in life.
Thanks for helping us find family photos! We are putting them up on the wall. Please write in our notebook or come in and show us where on the world map we come from!
We are still planting seeds to plant at the Ranui Community Gardens on our Magic School Bus Field Trip. We will go on the trip in Tuesday 18th November and it will cost $8.50 for the bus. We will have a picnic and games there too! So much fun! We will bring a notice home soon.
Is anyone out there wanting to use the work bench with some of us? We have wood and tools and would love a parent helper to work with us!
Well that is all from us!
