OUR FIRST FEW DAYS AT SCHOOL!

Kia ora everybody!

Welcome to our very first blog about Room 20.  We are brand new to school and are in the Reception Class.  Our teacher is Miss Ellis and Ms P is our syndicate leader.  Our class fish are Goldie and Molly.

We bet you want to know what we have been up to these last 2 days!  Well let us tell you about it.

On Monday we played a game to help us learn each others names.  Maybe we can tell you the names of some of our new friends.  After we met our new friends we went for a big walk around the school.  We had running races on the big field.  We are fast!!  We are speedy!!

We eat our morning tea and lunch together and Miss Ellis tells us "Eat your brain food first Super Learners! Save your chips and biscuits till last."  We also put our scraps in the compost bin, and put our rubbish back in our lunch boxes.  We are very lucky because we always get extra eating time!

At Reading time we made our very own books to take home.  We do this every week.  Have you ever made a book?  You need to be super awesome at cutting and colouring, and it will help you learn to read because our books have lots of words we need to learn to read.

Everyday we have brain breaks and body breaks.  We play games, dance, and even sing to help our bodies and brains get recharged for more learning.

Today we painted paper plates.  We are going to make Flower Faces with them to put on display.

We are going to grow flowers and take the little seedlings to Ranui Community Gardens on a field trip, so we can plant them in their butterfly and bee garden.  We will catch the bus- just like the magic school bus!

Today we wrote a story during Shared Writing.  This is when we share our learning and ideas with each other.   Today we wrote about Room 20.  We thought of a simple sentence, we had a picture and it made sense.  Great work team.

We are also learning about being good friends.  Room 20 is like a family, or whanau.  Please help me find a photograph of my family so I can put it on the Whanau Tree display in class.

Thanks from Miss Ellis for waiting so patiently today outside while we sang our Goodbye Song.  We are learning the routine for the end of the day and you are helping us by waiting outside.

Have a look at our amazing and super cool Star Kids photos!  Thanks for visiting our blog.
Ka kite ano,
Room 20.

Our Brain Break Game- Teddy Bear Relays! We had a competition to get the teddy bears to the back of the lines by moving our arms, stomach, heads and chest only.  We could not move  our legs!

Painting our Flower Face plates.  We will put our photos in the middle.  We put our paint shirts on.

We are learning how to hold scissors correctly.  We use our thumbs, our pointer finger, and middle finger.  We put our thumb through one hole, and our middle finger through the bottom hole.  We use our pointer finger as our helper.

Check out our story we wrote in Shared Writing!  And a big welcome to our newest friend Valerie.
At Reading time we get our book bag, our super listening bodies and are ready to read!
