Kia ora everybody!
Today we all spent the day together and making friends. The older children in Room 20 are being amazing leaders and are teaching the younger children new to Arahoe how we do things in the classroom!
Have a look at our amazing photos!
We are learning to move around with out bumping into anyone during fitness!
Here we are doing our calendar. We are learning to say what day it is, what day it was yesterday and what day it will be tomorrow. We use the beginning letter to help us find the right day.
We are learning to continue a pattern. Our pattern this month is blue circle, green cross.
Here we are working nicely at our tables. We are kind to each other, and do our better than best!
We are learning about road safety! Today we talked about 'Stop, Look, Think and Listen!' We coloured in a beautiful picture - staying in the lines, and filling all the white spots. Some of us are also learning to hold our pencils correctly.
When it was time to glue our activity into our books, the older children helped they newer children. We have great leaders in Room 20! Look at how the older children are showing the newer children how to paste into their books!
During Reading time the newer children have been learning our routines, how to look for clues in pictures and to point to each word as they read. The older children have been grouped into new reading groups! So exciting! They will be ready for their move into Room 19.
At library time our librarian read us a story and reminded us of how we treat our library. She is such a great librarian and we are very lucky to have her! We want to be librarians when we are seniors too!
What a wonderful day! Making friends and learning new things. School is cool!
This week is also Maori Language Week! We have been learning to say 'Kia ora' (hi, thank you) and 'He kona ra' (goodbye).
We will soon be able to visit our amazing Poppy Art on the wall of Room 7. The Remembrance Event is on Monday and starts at 7am. Please let one of our awesome teachers know if you would like to attend the event. There will be white doves released and ONE child from our class can actually release one of the doves!
We are going to have a 'Thinking Green' Athon 2014! We had a notice today so make sure we give it to you!
Thanks for visiting our blog!
Ka kite ano!
