Exciting news- Room 20 has a new teacher: Miss Rego. Miss Rego is with us for the week and is teaching us about Rangoli patterns. We are also going to make roti with her. We have been learning to say Namaste when we do the roll. Miss Ellis and Miss Rego make a fantastic team working together.
This week we are learning about the letters d and b. They are very tricky as they look the same. The difference is that d has an open mouth shape and b has a closed gate. They both have tall sticks.
Today we looked at Miss Watson's blog Go Chase the Sun. It is all about her travels in Africa. Then we read the book 'Going to the River.' Remember some of us have only just started school, so you might need to read our books to us, as we learn how to read.
We have been learning to write our name starting with a big letter and using little letters. Can you see how we do this? Arav, Darius, Sophie. All our names only have a capital letter to start with. MISS ELLIS is not the right way. Miss Ellis is the right way!
Our eco school is really getting into action. We can put our food waste (apple cores, fruit peels etc) into our compost bucket in the class. If you want us to bring it home, please tell Miss Ellis or Miss Rego. We are also learning about what paper you can recycle. Did you know we can't recycle dirty tissues, pizza boxes or paper that has paint on it?
A reminder from Miss Ellis that library books need to be returned to the library by Wednesday morning, and that Subway money is due Wednesday morning also. We also need to make sure we bring a spare pair of clothes as it is meant to be very rainy this week.
Ohhh, please check out our drama faces. We are learning to show expression through our faces. We read the book 'How Do I Feel?' by Anthony Browne.
We hope you have enjoyed reading our blog. Ka kite ano!
