SUPER SONIC STAR KIDS!

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Are you ready for this?  We have been doing so much at school.  You might need to sit down for this blog session!

Last Friday we started off the day with the artist Graham Dodd.  He taught us how to sketch and shade.  A sketch is not a scribble, that is for sure.  We learnt how to draw what we see, and how to use different pencils in different ways!  Half way through, we had our very first fire drill.  We were so sensible, listened to our teacher, and then got on with our art lesson when it was over.

Miss Ellis has photocopied our sketches, and made a display.  Please come and see them.  We can take our original copies home.

On Friday afternoon we cleaned out the sandpit and water play area.  We were buzzy bees doing our jobs and helping each other.

After the big clean up.  Great team work Room 20!

We also took our afternoon visitors down to the worm farms.  We didn't get a chance today, but we can have lots more visits to feed the worms, and make sure they are okay.

Today we worked like machines!  Miss Ellis is so amazed that we are working so well at our tables, making our books to take home on a Monday, while she teaches children how to write Casey Shapes on the chalkboards.  Did you know that most of us did it all by ourselves?  We are proud of finishing our work all by ourselves.
This table was the quietest working table.
All you could hear were their buzzy bee bodies working away.
When we finish our Reading and Writing activities we can choose a fine motor activity.  We are learning to manage ourselves.

The most exciting news is that we all completed the Cross Country.  Miss Tan from Room 19 ran with us and said we did very well.  Miss Ellis thinks we did great because we all finished and we all tried our best.  (Note from Miss Ellis:  The very best Year 0 runners EVER!)

We are actually very excited about our trip!  We have enough parent helpers now too- thank you parents and grandparents.  We will try and remember to bring morning tea in a plastic bag, and wear closed toe shoes.  (Parents please give Miss Ellis an inhaler if your child is asthmatic to take on the trip).

We are also learning about patterns in Maths. It is part of Algebra. We are going to make patterns out of food!  Yum!

Have a great night.
Ka kite ano!
