Have a look at what we have been up to in our classroom lately!
Here we are with our friends at lunchtime.
Here we are learning about Casey the Caterpillar. We are learning to use Casey Shapes to form letters correctly.
A note from Miss Ellis: There are steps to The Casey the Caterpillar Handwriting Programme. Each step is fundamental in laying the foundation that students need in order to form letters correctly. Alongside letter formation, children are learning which letters represent sounds, and planning for writing through painting, drawing, sharing and imagining. They are also learning about the 'Concepts of Print' where writing and reading behaviours are taught or maintained. Some of these skills are taught in The Casey the Caterpillar Handwriting Programme e.g. writing from left to right, where to go when you get to the end of a line and writing from the top to the bottom of the page.
In these photos we are learning to draw trunk, branches and eggs. This shows us where we will start writing and where we go next.
Here we are writing Casey Shapes open mouth, tall stick and short stick. They are in the right place, they are the right shape and they are the right size. These shapes make up the letters c, l, I, t, a, and d. Fancy that!
Here we are learning the names of the Casey Shapes and seeing what letters they are in!
Science is all about shadows this week! Have a look at the shadow outlines we drew!
Thanks for looking at our blog! Keep an eye out for more photos soon!
