SUPER STAR KIDS

Kia ora everybody!

Check out our photos to see what we have been up to in Room 20 with all our new friends.

Swimming has been so much fun.  We have been getting our selves changed, learning to be safe around the swimming pool, and how to enter the pool safely.

We had a picnic under the big climbing tree.  So much fun and great practice for our Teddy Bear's Picnic next Tuesday.

The 'Hands Alive' puppet show was so much fun.  We laughed and laughed!

On Fridays we have been reading with our visitors.  We are very good buddies for all the new children that come into Room 20.

Every day we learn about a new letter.  We learn what it looks like, how it sounds and what words start with the sound that the letter makes.

In Shared Writing we are learning how to write a simple sentence. First we think about what we are going to write.  We record our idea by drawing a picture.  Then Miss Ellis writes it down, but we help her!  Our simple sentence needs to start with a capital letter, end with a full stop and it needs to make sense.  We know if it makes sense because it sounds right!  We are also learning where to start writing from and to leave spaces between our words.  We use Casey Shapes to form letters correctly.

We are learning to paint a picture and tell the teacher a simple sentence about the picture.  We will bring these home soon!

We always have a letter activity and are learning to work at our tables quietly.  We try and do our better than best all the time!
We are learning to write our names correctly.  We use Casey Shapes to help us form our letters correctly and we start with a capital letter and use little letters for the rest.

Here are some special notices from Miss Ellis.

Hi parents and caregivers,
Thanks so much for payments for both the puppet show and the Teddy Bear's Picnic.  Family members coming to Westlynn Gardens for the picnic can pay via the honesty box.  If you are a parent helper please walk with us from school.  Unfortunately, if you have a pre-schooler with you, we can not have you as a parent helper due to safety reasons.  However we would love to have you meet us at the Gardens for the picnic.

Our library sessions for the rest of the term are for browsing only, and we will not be borrowing any more library books this term.  I fully recommend a public library membership for reading over the school holidays.

Have a great day!
Miss Ellis
