Tomorrow morning we have the Donate or Dig In Tree Planting from 9am -10.30.
Our class is planting a tree, so if you have a spade or want to join us, please meet us at the big field after the roll. We would love it if you could bring a garden spade too!
We will need to wear gumboots, and even rain coats in case it starts to drizzle a little bit.
We have a Bake Sale as well where for $2 we can get a slice and a hot chocolate to help celebrate Arbor Day. Please support The Block Café as they have donated many ingredients and equipment to us!
Great news is that Miss Betsy Rego is with us for the rest of the term. She is taking our reading groups in the mornings and loves to read books, sing songs, and smile!
A note from Miss Ellis- parent teacher meetings are on Monday 30 June and Wednesday 2 July. If you have already been to one this term, can you please leave this opportunity to the families I have not seen yet. I also recommend visits after your child has been at school for 4 weeks.
Please have a look at our photos to see what we have been doing lately.
Ka kite ano,
Room 20.
Welcome to our new children! Here is Roxana learning how to set up her chalkboard and writing short stick and tall stick on the chalkboard.
Tino pai Yogini, Yashvi and Kimberly for picking up this huge bag of rubbish during lunch time. They were given a values award by a teacher who saw them. The values award is for Ecological Sustainability.
On Monday we had an amazing time writing our shared story. We are learning to listen for the sounds we hear in words. Why? So Miss Ellis can have a rest from writing our stories and we can learn to write tehm ourselves. How did we do this? We made the sound we could hear, then we said a letter that can make that sound (e.g. the /i/ in 'roti' and 'making' sounds like an /e/). We also learnt about moving our hand to help us hear the different sounds in a word. Miss Ellis was impressed that some of us knew how to spell 'we' and 'are'. We spelt the rest ourselves (except for the 'ng' because that is a bit too tricky!)
Stretching exercises for our bodies and minds.
Looking for letter /b/ and /d/- some of the trickiest letters EVER because they look a bit the same.
Learning how to form letter b correctly.
Finding Casey Shapes in our names and tracing over them!
Learning how to play 'Rob the Nest'.
Cheering our teams on!
