WHAT IS GOING ON IN ROOM 20?

Kiaora everybody!

In Room 20 we are learning about the letter c.  It can make 2 sounds: k-k like in cat and s-s like in circus.  The Casey Shape we can see is open mouth.  We have been learning how to write open mouth c on the chalkboards, and some of us have been learning open mouth short stick which makes the letter a

We like to sing these songs to help us learn:

Miss Ellis has a great hand-out for you if you want it which has all the Casey Shapes that make up all the letters.  Please ask her for one!

We are learning the difference between letters, words and sentences in Reading and Shared Writing.  We count our letters, count our words (which have spaces between them) and count the sentences.

We are learning to read our numbers to 20.  The tricky ones are the teen numbers- 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19.  We all know number 20 and are learning how to say 20 in Maori- rua tekau.    So much learning as we are also going to be learning how to count backwards from 10 and 20.
Amazing work in Room 20 counting and writing numbers to 10.  Ka pai!

Last week we were making necklaces out of patterns.
Patterns are all around us!  Maths is all around us too!

Fast finishers get to make patterns out of shapes!

Here we are practicing reading dice patterns and making our fingers strong by making worms out of playdough!

Congratulations Miss Kimberly for winning last week's class certificate!  You always make your best effort, are reading for learning and always help in the class!

Crazy Hat and Hair Day is on Friday.  We can wear a funky outfit (no uniform) and pay a gold coin donation.  Of course we are wearing a cool hat or crazy hair to school too!  All fundraising goes towards improving our school playground, swimming pool and grounds.

We have library tomorrow too!

Ka kite ano, and thanks for visiting our blog,
