W IS FOR WOW, W IS FOR WEDNESDAY

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We had such a fun time at the Transfer Station today!  We started at the Education Centre and had a go at recycling a big bag of (clean) rubbish.  We sorted the rubbish into
  1. Landfill (can not recycle)
  2. Food scraps
  3. Paper
  4. Plastic, glass and tins/cans
  5. Things we can re-use
We learnt about tiger worms that are used in worm farms as well.

After morning tea, we had a tour around the Transfer Station.  We wore hard hats and hi-vis vests and walked around.  We went on a bus ride and saw what happens to all our trash.  Some parts were so smelly.

We had a close up look at the worms in the worm farm too!

Can you help us reduce our landfill rubbish?  We are going to give it a go in class.  First we will carry on recycling our paper.  We started a food scraps bin today too.  It is called a compost.  Do you have a compost at home already?  Miss Ellis is also trying not to buy new things for the class.  You can see her recycled brown paper signs everywhere!

We don't have homework today but we do have our library books!

Look out for photos to come!  Josh's dad Michael took photos for us.  Thanks so much to all the parent and grandparent helpers.  We can't go on trips without you!

Have a great afternoon and here are some photos from yesterday's Maths.  We were making patterns!  Come and see our wall display!

Ka kite ano,
Room 20!

Can you see the pattern we made with our bodies?  Have a close look!

We talked about what is the same and different!
